Separate & Unequal: American Education w Camille Walsh
The other argument against the "taxpayer money" meme is that these funds belong to the public now, not just the "taxpayers." The "public" is composed of all citizens. We supposedly settled this issue when we dropped voting rights based on property in the early 19th century. The particular reason that someone pays a particular tax does should be divorced from how that money is spent. Property taxes that are based on real estate should be considered as the property "owner" getting exclusive right to land that was created 5 billion years ago. The land really belongs to everyone.
