Essays. Btw never got into the online community

I just saw your tweet about Michael Parenti's health and I think it would be amazing to make a short documentary about him and his work to send to him and show love. I'd be happy to contribute in whatever way

Essays if you ask me: that's what I can read. I'll skip the videos, never have the energy to sit through them.

David Carter's avatar

If you want to try a documentary, go for it. And I hope you get more than 1 new subscriber out of the ask.

Patricia's avatar

I'm sure your documentary would be well done and worthwhile, but I only read your essays. Sorry, not enough time in the day to watch videos.

Essay! I rarely watch video unless I’m binge watching something, but I always read.

Essays. I enjoy your essays.

Documentary!

And if you need any original music, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Jose Galdamez's avatar

A documentary would be a welcome addition to Historic.ly’s content. I don’t see a problem with hitting pause on the essays at this time.

I like the idea of short documentary series!

Prefer essays, but agree that you should do what you enjoy most.

Esha's avatar

It isn't about me enjoying it... I enjoy both. It's how to optimize my time for my subscribers :)

Lonni Skrentner's avatar

essays...easier to read in bits and pieces. But, agree with folks who are saying you need to follow your passion.

Hw about a mix: a film once a month, and a couple of essays a week, intermingled? Best of both worlds!

Hugh Keleher's avatar

I would like to watch a documentary in 1-2 weeks.

Betsy's avatar

A, please!

A! A documentary would be awesome

Franco Marino's avatar

a documentary! I find your videos very engaging and I like learning visually/auditorily

b) I prefer essays

Harris Barlow's avatar

I think you want to do the documentary, and you would get a lot out of doing it, and I would love to see it. Don't be shy about asking for funding.

Esha's avatar

How do I be more aggressive about asking for funding?

steve's avatar

Have you ever made a documentary or any kind of moving image work? You would find that one a month is extremely, extremely ambitious.

Esha's avatar

I have. I have also been working on this one on and off for over year because it is so slow.

MJ's avatar

Essay. Love documentaries but no time to watch, only to listen. So actually, a voice only podcast would be a good compromise. Including references with any format would be great. Ranked choice: 1) Essay 2) Podcast 3) Documentary

I would like you to do what you would like to do.

Esha's avatar

Since you are customers, I would like to make sure the customers are happy :)

Bill.K's avatar

Well, I'm a happy customer.

Christine Popowski's avatar

You mentioned the documentaries are only 20minutes. If that is true do the documentaries otherwise stick with the essays.

Alex Hood's avatar

Happy to see you explore what you like in any medium

David Ney Dodson's avatar

Essay for sure. While your words are spot on, I find your voice shrill and not at all matching the tone of care and moderation I find in what I read. And reading gives me time to stop and reflect on what you're saying. I'm a kinesthetic learner, so I absorb it much better that way.

Windchild's avatar

i have time to read some of the essays, not to watch documentaries, already too much online time. thanks for asking

It would be cool to see what you would do in a video format. I'm happy with whatever content you make. Very informative.

documentaries, at least once to try it!

Paddyon's avatar

Documentaries. They’re generally harder hitting IMO.

Richard Fedder's avatar

Personally, I rarely watch documentaries. I prefer reading to watching. I have more control to skip the redundant stuff I already know. But as someone below said, you have to do what you feel creative doing. Be your own muse.

Jeff Epstein's avatar

Both! Go wherever your creative juices take you. Sometimes a documentary, sometimes an essay.

Esha's avatar

This is for the next two weeks.

Jeff Epstein's avatar

Ah. So maybe not both :)
