I grew up in Detroit. People making minimum wage who were nonunion got regular cost of living wages a couple of times a year. The UAW set the pace for years, and it was felt by working people pushing a broom in Ohio, etc.
Federal minimum wage today is 7.25/hour. Before taxes that can by you a small bottle of Kombucha to drink.
Today an hour if your labor is equal to a popular 16 ounce drink!

Some European countries have no minimum wage and do just fine. Want higher wages for Americans? Close the borders and let the market regulate it.
